In June 2022, thanks to support from Allegheny County DHS and corporate/foundation partners, our Beverly’s Babies division launched The Greater Pittsburgh Infant Formula Bank.

This is the region's first and only public formula bank network, designed as a bridge-based support service to help families struggling financially or find the formula to feed their babies.

The Greater Pittsburgh Infant Formula Bank is closed Wednesday December 18th to Monday January 6th. All locations will reopen on Tuesday January 7th, 2025.

Our F.E.E.D. acronym focuses on ensuring families have access to the infant formula they need, advocating for it, and educating them about all forms of infant feeding. We provide support for breastfeeding resources, lactation support, and education.

Why a Formula Bank Is Needed

Navigating finding and affording infant formula can be challenging and our work exists to be a bridge resource to support thousands of families in Southwestern PA annually.
75%
of babies
in the US rely on some type of formula by 6 months of age
Formula is not traditionally available at food banks
Not all formula is covered by insurance and not all families have insurance

We engage with partners, healthcare providers, social service agencies, retailers, benefit entities, insurance companies, and donors to advocate for families' needs. We work to close gaps in education and disparities and make the infant feeding journey equitable and accessible for families.

Our public banks are physically located in Allegheny and Westmoreland County.  Our mobile unit, 'Babs' visits different communities on a monthly basis and serves as mobile bank.

All Greater Pittsburgh Infant Formula Bank visitors must agree to the terms and conditions set forth to utilize our services.
